Youth Red Cross Unit

The Red Cross is an international humanitarian service organization dedicated to the cause of suffering humanity both in times of war and peace since 8 decades. its Headquarters is in Geneva, Switzerland. Jean Henry Dunant , known as the father of the RED CROSS. The Youth Red Cross is a unit that is meant to involve the youth in working towards building a better society with the principles followed by that of the International Red Cross Society.

WHAT IS YOUTH RED CROSS

“The Youth Red Cross ” is the most important constituent of its mother organization, Indian Red Cross Society. it is a group moment organized for students in colleges and technical institutions. the students are trained and encouraged to manage the affairs of the group, electing their own office bearers.

Youth Red Cross has the following three principles:

With these in mind, the YRC unit of our college involves students in the following activities regularly:

13/02/2021

An awareness on Oral Health was conducted to the students and volunteers of the college on 13/02/2021. All the YRC members participated in the programme. Resource Person Dr. Betina Ashwini and Dr. Suhani Shetty, Senior Lecturer, Srinivas college of Dental Science gave the information and awareness regarding the Oral Health to the gathering.

19th March 2021 to 21st March 2021 Our five youth YRC members rendered valuable service as Youth Red Cross Volunteer in State Disaster Response Team (SDRT)-2021 Training.
23-03-2021 Covid awareness programme was organized by NSS in association the Youth Red Cross Unit on 23-3-2021. The awareness was created among the people of Surathkal by distributing the pamphlets. Students with all care and attention went door to door creating awareness among people regarding precautionary measures to be taken and aroused awareness on vaccination given to the senior citizens.
09-08-2021 Vaccination drive conducted in our college in association with NSS.
17-09-2021 The Indian Red Cross Society Karnataka, Dakshina Kannada District; Mangalore University Youth Red Cross Society and Govinda Dasa College Youth Red Cross Wing jointly organized a one-day awareness and training programme on basic first-aid for physical directors/ physical education teachers from different schools on 17th September 2021. 125 physical directors are attended
17-09-2021 Five YRC members participated in Lasika Mithra programme as data entry workers at Surathkal PHC.
10-10-2021 Cleaning programme in public garden at Chokkabettu in association with Rotary club.
31-10-2021 Beach cleaning program conducted in association with NSS, NCC and Rotract club on 31st October 2021. 25 YRC members actively participated in mission of Swacha Bharath Abhiyana

Primary School , Guttakadu, Kinnigoli and the public residing in the area. The event was held in association with GDC NSS unit during the Annual Special Camp.
04 35 students Beach Cleaning- Tannirubavi The district YRC  wing along with MU conducted a beach cleaning capmaign under the Swachh Bharath Abhiyaan.
